On November 13th and 14th, Savor the Flavor is coming to the TRAC in Pasco.  This is going to be a two day event featuring some chefs from the Food Network, an Iron Chef style competition, a Best Burger Throwdown as well as food and wine from Mid-Columbia Wineries and restaurants.  The “Best Burger Throwdown” will be used to raise donations for the Tri-Citie’s Food Bank.

You can purchase tickets in advance for $10 per day for adults or $16 for a two-day pass.  Ticket’s for the kiddies will run $5 per day or $8 for a two-day pass.

Rocktoberfest is gearing up on October 3rd at TRAC in Pasco. This is the second annual Rocktoberfest and if it’s to be anything like the first one, it’s going to be a good time. Ticket’s have been on sale since September 1st for $20. If you buy at the door, you’ll pay $22.

There’s a VIP area available for a table that seats ten for $300. It looks like there’s going to be a free nacho bar for the VIPs from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. I’ll have to see if I can get some pics of this, it should be interesting.

According to TRAC’s info, there will be 20 beers on tap from breweries like Rogue, Kona, Big Sky, Mack & Jack, and my favorite Iron Horse Brewery. However, I got a tweet from Iron Horse and they said they’re probably not going to make it this year. After I read that, I pondered what the point of going was if they weren’t going to be there. Then I remembered that Hell’s Belles were going to be rocking the joint and I felt better.   Also, be sure to see what’s happening in the upcoming weeks on the Tri-Cities events calendar.

Thursday, 8/20/09 was TCSSC‘s new Trivia night was at the Richland Jackson’s location.  I gotta say, it was a great time.  The questions were tough but not too tough.  The food was good, the beer flowed, and as the night progressed the crowd got a little more liberal with their answers…. you had to be there.

The night was MC’d by Stephen Hartley of Fenix DJ and he did an excellent job of managing the mob.  The next Trivia Night at Jackson’s is going to be September 3rd starting at 7:30pm.  Check the Tri-Cities events calendar for details.

Sausage Fest is the primary fundraising event for Christ the King School in Richland, Washington and has been an annual community event for 33 years.  It is the third largest event in the Tri-Cities and will be taking place starting at 5:00pm on September 18th and continuing on Saturday the 19th from 11:00am to Midnight!

The Sausage Fest at Christ The King also serves as an important venue for the Tri-Cities local bands.  This year there will be the following.

Friday the 18th:

Saturday the 19th:

Even with the live entertainment, yes there will be beer, sausage, and even a wine tasting event.  A couple of the more popular events (as cheesy as they are) are bingo and the Chicken Dance competition.  There’s nothing funnier than watching a few hundred men, women, and children in a gymnasium trying to do the chicken dance.

Finding parking for the Sausagefest can be a little tricky.  There’s limited parking lot space and the street parking fills in pretty quick.

This past weekend was a good one.  Bonefish on Friday with some after hours of getting schooled at shot-gunning some Coors Light (don’t ask).  Saturday was full of good times.  Jackson’s in Kennewick had UFC 101 going on.  Too bad Forest Griffin got his ass handed to him by Anderson Silva.  Sadly, it wasn’t too much of a surprie. Also glad to see BJ Penn submit Kenny Florian.  Sunday was a great day for a Bloody Mary, I should’ve had one.

This coming week is shaping up to be a great one too.  Here’s what’s on the agenda so far.  Again, I’m looking for anything solid going on for Monday and Tuesday:

Monday:  Nada
Tuesday: Zilch
Wednesday:  Wine Wednesday at the Bookwalter Winery hosted by the Tri-Cities Sports & Social Club (@tcssc).  This is taking place from 6pm to 9pm.  And then if history repeats itself…. I foresee a trip to Bonefish for late night happy hour.
Thursday:  This has the makings to be a stellar Thursday.  There’s live music at the Branding Iron (Nuketown) and Kennewick Jackson’s (The Millionaire’s Club).  There’s also comedy at Jack Didley’s with Bruce Baun.  What can go wrong with some comedy followed by some good live music?
Friday: So far, a smaller repeat of Thursday with comedy and live music.  I’m certain I’ll be updating Friday during the course of the week.
Saturday: Wow!  What a lineup.  We have a live outdoor concert at the Ice Harbor Brewery on Benton Street, comedy at Jack Didley’s, Jupiter Crash (out of Seattle) at Jackson’s in Kennewick, and Rhythm Roulette (Zumba Music) at Kimo’s Sports Bar.
Sunday: Probably a day of recovery….

I popped into the Kennewick Jacksons to see what the deal is with UFC 101 Declaration.  Here’s the scoop:

• UFC 101 starts at 7pm

• You had better get there early (like slightly before 6pm)

• There will be drinks specials:  I heard something about $6 Patron Tequila and $4 Crown Royal.

It had been a few weeks since I’d been there and they’ve installed some well placed fans that keep the place cool.

UPDATE: 8/6/09 @ 10:47am:  Apparently King Beverage (Tri-Cities Budweiser Distributor) is hosting a party at the Pub tonight.  They are giving away a cruise!

UPDATE: 8/3/09 @ 10:52am: An unconfirmed “soft opening” of Zinful Wine bar located at 114 W. Kennewick Ave.  Could be fun… if you’re into wine.

Well, the week after the Water Follies was a little slow but we’re starting this week of pretty good.  Be sure to check the Tri-Cities Events Calendar frequently!

Monday:  I’m sure there’s karaoke going on somewhere. ho hummm…..

Tuesday:  There’s a Tweetup Tri-Cities event getting together at Uncle Sam’s Saloon on Tuesday starting around 6:30pm.  For those of you not familiar with this, it’s a casual get together of local social media followers.  It’s a great way to meet new people and put faces to the “@’s”.

Wednesday: I’m looking. I’m looking.

Thursday:  This will be the third Trivia Night at the Crier put on by the Tri-Cities Sport and Social Club (@tcssc).  I went to my first one during the last go around and had a blast.  Long story short, it’s a get together of people looking to test their trivial knowledge.  The questions are usually put together by one or two people in the group and not taken from Trivia Pursuit, or Jeopardy, or anything like that.  One word of caution… you may want to brush up on any local events or recent news events.  If you can make it to this event, you should go.  You’ll have a good time.

Friday: Thursday, Friday and Saturday Jack Didley’s has Kivi Rogers performing his “Roller Pimp” Comedy Tour. Kivi is back to Jack Didley’s by popular demand! Kivi was nominated as “comedian of the year” and has also appeared in the Mira Sorvino, Lisa Kudrow feature film Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion.  I think I’ve found my Friday night’s plans…

Saturday:  So far, we’ve got two events that couldn’t be more polar opposites.  There’s the Prosser Wine and Food Festival and then there’s the UFC 101 “Declaration” being shown at Kennewick Jacksons.  You can bet hard money that I’ll be found at Jacksons   Don’t forget comedy at Jack Didley’s.

Sunday:  I’m thinking a Bloody Mary from anywhere will be sounding good.  Who around here makes a damn good Bloody Mary other than me….

I went to my first trivia night at the Towne Crier last night hosted by the Tri-Cities Sport and Social Club (@tcssc) and can easily say I had a blast.  It wasn’t because my trivial knowledge of useless information was in high gear (because it wasn’t), it’s because I met some pretty cool people that I wouldn’t have met otherwise.  Plus, I got to hang out with some pretty cool people that I’ve met at previous TCSSC events like (@heyjenk, @WeDomestic, @MrDomestic, @sdub101, @webdood, @SubversiveLove)  On top of all this, the Crier was running some great drink specials.  How could you possibly go wrong with $5 pitchers of PBR?

The next trivia night will be Thursday August 6th.  For everyone who has “Hanford Fridays” off, this works out great.  For those of us that don’t have “Hanford Fridays” off, man up and get there.

This is a semi-busy week for alcohol fueled events in the Tri-Cities.

• Monday the 20th there is the PalateBomb.com detonation being held at the Bookwalter Winery in Richland.
• Tuesday (hoping to be updated…quickly. Let me know what I’ve missed)
• Wednesday (hoping to be updated…quickly. Let me know what I’ve missed)
• Thursday – Two events depending on which side of the TC you’re on.  In Richland at the Town Crier, there is the TCSSC Trivia Night.  I heard the inagural event was a blast.  If you’re in Kennewick, Jackson’s Sports Bar is hosting the Cigars, Scotch, & Dark Beer event.
• Friday – Friday is the kick-off to the 2009 Water Follies sponsored by Lamb Weston.  They’re apparently giving a way a ton of fries.  Don’t forget parties to be held at numerous bars.
• Saturday – Tri-Cities Boat Races (aka Water Follies) and the parties to be held at numerous bars.
• Sunday – Tri-Cities Boat Races (aka Water Follies)
