Chicken Dumpling Soup at Island View Market & Deli – October 6, 2025
The first day of soup season is always something I look forward to. There’s just something about the change in weather—suddenly, you want something warm and filling. This year, I found myself craving soup and made my way to Island View Market & Deli over in the Richland Wye.
If you haven’t been, the deli here is a long-time local favorite. People know this spot for their quick lunches and low-key atmosphere. Today, they had a pretty decent crowd, all of us clearly here with the same soup-season mindset.
What I Ordered
-
- Main Entrée: Chicken Dumpling Soup
- Side Entrée: Saltine crackers
The Experience
Island View’s soup is built for comfort. The chicken dumpling soup has a nice homemade feel to it—thick broth, big dumplings, chunky carrots and celery, and plenty of pulled chicken. It’s rich but not heavy, and has this peppery note that keeps each spoonful interesting. Saltine crackers are classic and work as always for bringing a little crunch or a way to clean off your spoon.
The service here is always fast and friendly. Even when it’s busy, like today, you can count on being in and out quickly without sacrificing any of that local deli charm. The staff know most folks by name, so if you’re a regular, expect a nod or a quick chat about how soup season is finally here.
What Stood Out
- The flavors in the chicken dumpling soup—savory, peppery, and comforting without being too rich
- Fast service, even on busier days
- Good crowd, filled with people who appreciate a solid bowl of soup
Would I Get It Again?
Absolutely. I always come back for this soup every fall. If you’re looking to kick off soup season, Island View Market & Deli is a reliable start. It isn’t fancy, but it definitely hits the spot when that first chill rolls in. Add this one to your soups-to-try list for autumn.
