Fish & Chips Lunch at Publichouse 255 in Richland – October 24, 2025
Lunch with a good friend always hits different, and on this particular Friday, we grabbed a table at Publichouse 255 in Richland. It’s one of those places that’s tucked across the street from the Uptown Plaza , but still feels like a local spot where you’re likely to run into people you know. That’s exactly what happened—by the time we left, we’d waved at a handful of folks we both recognized from the area.
We started with an appetizer: fried green tomatoes. Not a dish you see everywhere, but when they’re good, they’re really good. At Publichouse 255, they hit that balance of tangy and crunchy, and the breading holds up even after sitting for a bit. A solid way to kick off the meal.
For the main event, I went for the fish and chips. This is something I’ve ordered here a bunch, and for good reason. Each time, the fish comes out with a crisp batter that’s never greasy. The portion size is ideal for lunch—you leave full but not weighed down. Fries are the standard cut, well-salted, and served up hot.
Here’s what stood out during this visit:
- The Fish & Chips: Always consistent. The batter is crunchy enough, and the fish inside stays flaky. Bonus: the tartar sauce is house-made and you can tell.
- Fried Green Tomatoes: Good amount of tang. The breading has enough crunch without overpowering the tomato itself. Recommend grabbing these if you want to start with something different.
- Flavors Across the Board: Everything tasted fresh and legit.
The service was on point, and while the place was busy with the lunch crowd, we never felt rushed. Publichouse 255 has a good vibe during the day. Whether you’re catching up over a meal or just stopping in solo, it always feels comfortable.
Would I get the fish and chips again? Absolutely. It’s already a go-to item for me here, and after this lunch, it’s staying in the rotation.
If you’re looking for a reliable spot in Richland for lunch, and you want a meal with legit flavors and great service, Publichouse 255 is worth checking out.
