Mongolian Beef at Mandarin House in Richland – March 17, 2026
I squeezed in a quick lunch on March 17 while working in Central Richland and decided to stop by Mandarin House. It was one of those days where I needed something fast, flavorful, and low drama — Mandarin House fit the bill. The place was busy, which is always a good sign during a lunch rush.
What I Ordered
- Main Entrée 1: Mongolian Beef with egg drop soup
- Main Entrée 2: Kung Pao Chicken with Hot & Sour soup
The Experience
The service was great and very quick, which is exactly what I wanted for a short break. The atmosphere was busy but manageable — lots of people coming and going, staff moving efficiently, and the line turned over fast. Mandarin House had a good vibe and the food is legit.
What Stood Out
The flavors of the dishes were outstanding. The Mongolian Beef came in a glossy sauce that hit a nice balance of sweet and savory. The beef had good texture — tender slices with a few edges that had a slight caramelized bite. It worked really well over rice; the sauce soaked in without getting soggy.
The egg drop soup was light and soothing, exactly what you want to warm you up without filling you up too soon. It was seasoned just enough to sit alongside the Mongolian Beef without stealing the show.
The Kung Pao Chicken leaned toward the spicier side with crunchy peanuts and crisp veggies that added texture. The heat was present but not overbearing, and the Hot & Sour soup delivered a pleasant tang and peppery edge that complemented the Kung Pao nicely. Both mains had clear, distinct flavors rather than blending into one another.
Would I Get It Again?
Yes. I’d get these once a week if I could. For a fast lunch in Central Richland, Mandarin House is reliable, flavorful, and efficient. If you’re looking for a quick weekday lunch that actually tastes like something someone put care into, this spot is worth a stop.
