NY Strip and Pork Katsu Sandwich at Salted Mill in Walla Walla – August 22, 2026

We were continuing birthday celebrations on Saturday, August 22, 2026, and decided to make the drive to Salted Mill in Walla Walla. It felt like the right spot to keep the night going — a place that balances approachable food with thoughtful execution.

What I Ordered

  • Appetizer: Yellow Tail Ahi Won Tons — delicious; I could have ordered three
  • Main #1: NY Strip — perfectly cooked medium rare
  • Side #1: perfectly cooked potatoes
  • Main #2: Pork Katsu Sandwich
  • Side #2: perfectly seasoned french fries

The Experience

Salted Mill was busy but not packed to the brim. The lighting and decor set a relaxed tone — had a good vibe and the food is legit. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, service was a 10/10. The team paid attention to the little things that elevate a meal, and it was refreshing to be at a place where those details mattered.

What Stood Out

The Yellow Tail Ahi Won Tons were delicious. Crispy wrapper, clean tuna flavor, and a sauce that brought it all together — I honestly could have ordered three plates and been happy. The NY Strip arrived exactly as requested: medium rare, with a tender interior and a nice crust. The potatoes that came with it were cooked just right — creamy inside with a good exterior texture.

The Pork Katsu Sandwich delivered the crunchy, juicy contrast I was hoping for. The fries were seasoned well and held up to every bite. The whole meal felt cohesive; the dishes complemented one another without fighting for attention. The entire experience is what a dining experience should be every time.

Pro Tip

If you like starters, split an extra order of the won tons. They’re small enough to share and big enough to make the table happy while you wait for mains.

Would I Get It Again

I would happily drive back from the Tri-Cities for this meal. I’d order the same things again and also work my way through more of the menu next visit.
